Mercato di Sant'Ambrogio

Shop & Service

Europe, Italy, Firenze

Saturday mornings in articular are very busy - and some vendors only come on Fridays and Saturdays. Outside on the long west side of the market you will find mostly fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as some cheeses and cold cuts, olives, bread, eggs, soaps, honey and more. On the smaller north and south ends clothes, shoes, and various household items are offered.

Via Roma

Orientation & Geography

Europe, Italy, Firenze

The Mecato Nuovo an also be found here, a leather and souvenir market. But the real attraction is a copy of Pietro Tacca's bronze Porcellino. The Porcellino is Florence's equivalent of the Trevi Fountain: put a coin in his mouth, and if it falls through the grate below it means you'll return to Florence someday...

Via de' Tornabuoni

Orientation & Geography

Europe, Italy, Firenze

The shops on Via Tornabuoni aren’t only for the high-class, feel free to step into the many coffee shops and panino (sandwich) shops that have been thriving for many years. The hotels are very ritzy as well but they can be affordable in the low season.

Piazza Santa Croce

Borgo Pinti and the little Via Matteo Palmieri near the theater are good places to start, while Piazza Ciompi houses Florence's famous flea market (which opens every day from 9 AM to 7 PM). Next to the market there are antique furniture shops.
