Papayou in rue de la Prefecture 35 is an excellent restaurant in Vieux Nice. The combination of classic Nicoise, Thai, and a little Italian makes for a great menu.
On arrival, owner Nadim Beyrouti and his staff take time to treat guests with an olive oil tasting, explaining the different origin of each oil. After a meal, choose an oil from the restaurant’s shop and try out one of Oliviera’s aromatic recipes at home.
The highlight is denoted by the excellent Pissaladière. Pissaladière is a dish which originated from Nice is usually a bread dough thicker than that of the classic Italian pizza, and the traditional topping consists of caramelised onions, olives, garlic and anchovies.
