Harrow is an area in the London Borough of Harrow, northwest London. It is a suburb situated 12.2 miles (16.4 km) northwest of Charing Cross. It is one of the major metropolitan centres identified in the London Plan. In Boris Johnson's draft replacement London Plan, the Harrow and Wealdstone Intensification Area, is identified for growth of at least 1,500 new homes and 2,000 jobs. Harrow is home to a large University of Westminster campus near Northwick Park Hospital (although both these landmarks actually lie within the London Borough of Brent). Harrow is widely known for Harrow School, with Harrow County School also located in the area. Harrow was a municipal borough of Middlesex before its inclusion in Greater London in 1965.
